24.08.17  Angling Trust urges anglers to respond to consultation to end unsustainable salmon netting The Environment Agency has launched an informal consultation about the exploitation of salmon in England which, if the preferred option is chosen, could bring an end to unsustainable salmon netting. The Angling Trust is urging all anglers and businesses that are dependent on salmon fishing to respond to the consultation before the deadline of 9th October to ensure their collective voice is heard.

23.08.17  New Conservation Measures in Wales for Salmon and Sea Trout (Sewin) Miss the Target The Angling Trust, the representative organisation for anglers in England and Wales, has responded angrily to proposals set out in a consultation issued by Natural Resources Wales yesterday for the regulation of salmon and sea trout (sewin) fishing with rods and nets in Wales.

22.08.17  Destruction of river ecology by agriculture highlighted in new campaign video The Angling Trust has released a 3-minute video to highlight the impacts of agriculture on the ecology of rivers, in particular on fish and the invertebrates on which they feed.  The video has been released to coincide with publication of a major investigation into the problem of agricultural pollution by the Bureau for Investigative Journalism, published in The Guardian today (21st August).

14.08.17  Environment Agency issues advice following increase in pink salmon numbers This season has seen abnormally high numbers of Pacific pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) reported running rivers in the northeast of England, Ireland and Scotland. The Environment Agency has now issued advice regarding what to do if you catch one of these alien fish.

09.08.17  Angling Trust Launches Campaign to "Help Save Our Wrasse" The Angling Trust has launched a national campaign calling for an immediate closure of the live capture wrasse fishery supplying fish to the Scottish salmon farming industry and is urging all anglers and conservationists to get involved.
