ADB's Coaching Courses Commended
The UKCC has recently confirmed the re-accreditation of anglings level 1 and level 2 coaching qualifications for the next two years. Sports Coach UK’s Rachel Hooper explained that the Sports Coach UK assessment panel had stated that the coach qualification schemes produced by the ADB for angling were amongst the best of all sports. She also stated that angling is one of only 25 sports with both levels 1 and 2 fully accredited.
ADB Chairman, David Moore thanked the staff and Coach Steering Group for their work to achieve this and said “This qualification scheme has proved enormously popular with more than 1,000 people who now have coaching qualifications and who are doing fantastic work with schools, clubs and fisheries throughout the country. With our pilot for the Level 3 recently completed, this will soon make angling one of the leading sports that are implementing the nationally approved training, qualification and licensing structure from grass roots participation to performance coaching.’’
The sport now has a pool of highly professional coaches in both coarse and game angling along with a growing interest from sea angling with more courses being held throughout the country and bursaries available in many areas. Look out for details on the new level 3 course being rolled out in 2012.
Following the start of the talent pathway several level 2 coaches have come forward to support the young people who have been selected for further development training and to compete in the inter-regional matches; some of whom attended the pilot UKCC level 3 course to lead on development of the pathway in 2012.
