Safer Neighbourhood thanks to Angling
The Mansfield North Safer Neighbourhood Team has been heavily involved in the promotion of angling activities in their local area for a while now. In partnership with Sherwood Forest Farm Fishery, the police force organise a number of junior matches for local young people, allowing officers and community support officers to form positive relationships with the young people they see on a daily basis in an informal, relaxed environment. This summer’s activities were rounded off with a county wide Junior competition which saw 48 young people catch some very impressive weights of fish. The ADB are also currently working with a local Warsop based youth group, The Shine Project, helping to develop a club to give the local young people an opportunity to develop the skills learnt and a continued route into the sport.
Nottinghamshire Police Local Area Commander, Mr Wakeline, takes time out to get a few tips from young Cameron Cross.
