Government review of Vetting and Barring

The government have recently announced a number of proposed changes to the way the vetting and barring system in this country (including CRB disclosures) operates and is administered. This could potentially have an impact on the need for and frequency of CRB checks. The CRB have now been replaced by the DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service)

The Angling Trust (along with other sports, through the Child Protection in Sport Unit) have been consulting on these changes which may be passed as law next year. The Angling Trust have produced a statement which outlines the proposed changes and the likely timescales of these, and can be downloaded here.
