Coarse Angling Talent Pathway

2016/17 England Talent Pathway - Coarse Angling

Young anglers aged 12 - 17 are invited to enter the England Talent Pathway programme in October 2016. The pathway consists of three regional programmes, North, Midlands and South. The coaches delivering the programme have International experience.

The programme will begin with anglers fishing in a competitive situation with the focus on performance and rather than solely results. Pole and Waggler tactics will be used during the session with anglers asked to use natural baits, local fishery rules will apply. The screening will give coaches an opportunity to observe and communicate with the anglers on a 1-1 basis. Coaches will assess anglers based on their combined performance and results.

Following completion of screening events at session 1, coaches from Northern, Midlands and Southern squads will each select a maximum of 12 anglers to progress to the training phase of the programme. Anglers will enter an international style training programme focusing on tactics and techniques required to fish at international level. All participants will receive individual feedback on their performance and written notification within 14 days of the final screening event regarding the outcome of the selection process.

To participate in the England Talent Pathway programme, you must be aged 12 or over on 31.07.2016 and 17 or under on 31.12.2016.
