AT & CRT Junior Canal Championship 2021 (11-15 years)
The Junior event is to be held on the Shropshire Union Canal at Soudley, near Market Drayton, Shropshire TF9 2NB on Sunday 19th September 2021.
The Cadet & Youth event is to be held on the Shropshire Union Canal at Shebdon, Staffordshire ST20 0PX on Saturday 18th September. For the Cadet & Youth Canal Championship please book on HERE.
The draw will be conducted on the evening of Thursday 16th September on the CRT Facebook Page at 6pm.

Parking Postcodes: For pegs 1 to 50 please use TF9 2NB; for pegs 51 to 75 please use TF9 2ED; and for pegs 75 upwards please use TF9 2LP
Main Car Park: TF9 2NB
Arrival: Please arrive at the car park from 9:45am onwards. You can make your way to the bank between 10:00am and 10:30am.
Fishing: 12:00pm to 4:00pm
Please note that in the cadet and junior section the maximum length of pole that can be used in the first 60 minutes of the competition is 3 metres and no fishing is allowed beyond the midpoint of the canal in the first hour.
The Championship will be split into 3 categories:
• the Cadet event is open to competitors aged 7-10 years old on the day of the competition. (Saturday 18th Sept)
• the Junior event is open to competitors aged between 11-15 years old on the day of the competition. (Sunday 19th Sept)
• the Youth event is open to competitors aged between 16-20 years old on the day of the competition. (Saturday 18th Sept)
Prizes and trophies for both competitions will be presented in a joint ceremony in the main car park at the end of the day.
Entry fee is £5.00 per angler.
The first 50 young people to book in will each receive a Drennan pole rig retailing at around £4.50. This rig is ideally suited to canal fishing and is a rig that Let’s Fish coach Simon Mottram would be happy to use himself. These will be presented at the presentation.
Young anglers will also receive the following incredible participation prizes:
- A £10 Leigh Tackle & Bait Voucher
- Fjuka bait
- A bag of Sensas groundbait
They are also in with a chance of winning:
- A gudgeon mug if they are able to land a gudgeon
- A perch badge if they land a perch
- A medal or trophy
We encourage those taking part to form teams of three, ideally through their local Let’s Fish club or community group. There will be a special prize for the top-performing school and team representing a tackle shop in both the cadet and junior events. Please email [email protected] by close of day on Monday 13th September with your teams, otherwise, you will be allocated a team at random (where numbers permit).
To take part in the team event you must already be competing as an individual.
Once you have registered to take part, you will be entitled to one free two-hour canal coaching development session through the Let’s Fish programme. These sessions are designed to help you prepare for the big day. You should email [email protected] with a subject heading National Angling Celebrations Development Programme to reserve your place. Please include your full name, age and where you live.
If you take part in this event, you will also be automatically be invited to take part in the fishing events that will be associated with the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Cancellation/Refunds: Please note: If you wish to cancel a ticket, please inform [email protected] by email, and include your name, the name of the qualifier you would like to cancel, your membership number & postcode. We require 7 days notice prior to the qualifier in order to process a refund. Any notification outside of this time scale will not be entitled to receive a refund. Please note: There is no secondary market for the sale or transfer of any tickets.
