Virtual Fisheries Forum | Norwegian Pink Salmon Control

11 March 2024 7:00 PM - 11 March 2024 8:30 PM
Open to all

Pink Salmon or Humpback Salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) are an emerging threat to UK salmon and sea trout populations. After introduction in Russian rivers in the 1960’s, these alien invaders have gradually moved westward and begun colonising Northern Norway, with some rivers seeing runs of thousands of Pink Salmon.

In this Virtual Fisheries Forum, Øyvind Fjeldseth from the Norwegian Hunting and Fishing Association will detail the large-scale effort and inventive methods put towards removing over 240,000 Pink Salmon in 2023 to protect their precious Atlantic salmon, sea trout, and Artic charr populations.

Fisheries Forums are free to attend and open to all, and we would encourage you to notify any fishing friends or colleagues who might find the session useful.
