ENGLAND’S YOUNGEST ANGLERS READY TO TAKE ON WORLD CHAMPS

Five young anglers will represent Guru Team England at the U15 World Championships in Portugal this summer after a four-day Talent Pathway scheme run by the Angling Trust and Tackle Guru.

Over 50 anglers between 10 and 15 years of age applied for places on the Talent Pathway this year, making it a difficult decision by the coaches to select just five from one of the strongest groups in the course’s history.

And it was Nicholas Brocklebank, Zak Brotherton, Barnaby Newman, Alfie Swieton, and Hyram Wilsher who earned their places in the squad following the intense assessments at Barston Lakes and Makins Fishery.

Putting the anglers through their paces at pole and big waggler fishing were England internationals and top coaches Matt Godfrey, James Dent, Frankie Gianoncelli, Joe Roberts, and James Lewis.

The Nation’s three Youth squads – Guru England U15, SSB Group England U20, and Sensas England U25 – will all be tackling the River Sorraia near Corruche, a venue well known to our international anglers, on August 5 and 6.

Previous visits to the venue have seen gold-medal performances from England, despite it being a tricky river to master with tactics including whip and pole at 6m for small fish, a 13m pole line for carassio and catfish, a 25m slider line for cats, and a waggler line at 35m with stickymag for barbel.

Congratulations to all the young anglers selected to represent Angling Trust Team England this year!
