Anglers with special needs use fishing’s life-skills
Our Club & Fishery Development Officer Dave Munt helped a local community group fund its project… Dave writes:
The Brian Newton Memorial cup was set up in memory of a well-loved carer who helped disabled and injured adults in their day-to-day lives. Teams from Health Works Newcastle, Momentum North East, Momentum Skills and Angling4All took part in the first match last summer and everybody caught a fish.
I supported the day as part of its work to get these group’s customers rehabilitated into everyday life, independent living and in some cases employment through angling.
The fishing is funded by a Small Grants award that I helped to arrange – all of our team have experience finding this kind of funding and if you know a group who could benefit like this we will always try to help.
