Volunteering Excellence Award for Devon Angling Coach
Our Partnership Development Manager Dean Asplin’s latest blog tells us about a recent visit to award a highly regarded Angling Trust Licensed Level 2 angling coach with an award in recognition of his services to coaching…
It was a great pleasure to make the short trip down to Cofton Holiday Park in Devon to meet up with Roly Palmer and award him with an “Angling Trust Volunteering Excellence Award”. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Roly for about 10 years now. He’s a long serving Level 2 Coach for Exeter & District Angling Association and was instrumental in helping the club achieve its Clubmark certificate. This shows that the club provides the right environment to ensure the welfare of members and encourages everyone to enjoy angling and stay involved throughout their lives. A great confidence-booster for parents and participants who want to go fishing!
Roly has “a heart of gold” and will do anything to get the next generation and even older folk into angling. His motivation and drive for introducing newcomers into fishing’s ranks is infectious, and I was very pleased to be able to nominate him for this much deserved award and for him to be successful – well done Roly!
Events run by Roly are listed at Get fishing near you, along with hundreds of other free sessions across England. Please encourage someone you know to get fishing!
