Florence catches her first fish at Suffolk Water Park
A busy spring calendar of events has seen new anglers of all ages and abilities picking up a rod or pole and giving fishing a go. We caught up with one such angler, Rickie, after he joined a Get Fishing event at Suffolk Water Park in April…
“Thank you for your open day at Suffolk Water Park – my 1-year-old daughter Florence and I had a great day out which saw Florence catch her first fish! I found out about the day on Facebook and after the experience we will definitely be fishing again.
“Florence was fascinated by the pot of maggots firstly. One of the volunteers kindly allocated some time to try and help her catch a fish. Once she caught her first one she realised what she was doing – not bad for a 1-year-old!
“I’d not heard of Get Fishing before but what they do for children and fishing is superb. It’s an absolutely brilliant event to introduce children to fishing, with experts on hand to show you how and explain the tackle needed. It was well organised event, friendly staff and volunteers and after the experience we will definitely be going back to the next event at Suffolk Water Park.”
If you want to take your kids fishing for the first time, and hopefully help them to catch their first fish too, then head over to our events calendar to find a #GetFishing event near you – Get fishing Near You
