Get Fishing News

Come on – let’s get people fishing this autumn!

Although this time of year sees fewer opportunities for people to go fishing Dean Asplin talks us through how you, your club or fishery can help keep people out on the banks this autumn and winter with news about the Angling Trust’s new angler introduction programme. Find out more…

It’s Autumn. Less daylight, sunshine and fishing events are happening. But despite that, there’s never been a better time to get involved with our ‘Get Fishing’ new angler introduction programme.

If you’re looking for new members, more day-ticket sales or indeed just want to help boost the numbers of newcomers to fishing then please do get in touch with me as the Angling Trust’s Participation Team here at Get Fishing can offer the following support. We will:

  • Organise a FREE Environment Agency fishing licence waiver to cover events at your fishery – no paperwork involved!
  • Give you a FREE event Resource Guide packed full of essential information and top-tips on how to run and promote your event
  • Promote your event, your business, fishery and facilities for FREE to a wide audience through our well established Get Fishing website and its social media – see Get Fishing
  • Send you FREE copies of the new Get Fishing book (…each worth £9.99!) to give away to your new participants. We’ve worked with author Allan Sefton and publisher Merlin Unwin to produce a brilliant 128 page hardback ‘how to’ guide to fishing
  • Offer your angling participants info on angling starter kit options including: whip, float, feeder and carp fishing packs

Traditionally, when autumn and winter arrive we notice a drop in the number of angling introduction events across the country. But I’d rather see a programme of activity right through the year. Wouldn’t you?

Fishing has so much to offer throughout the different seasons and this time of year can provide some of the best angling conditions – but to experience that, we need to get people out on the banks and actually fishing.

This year there’s been a noticeable upswing in the public’s interest in fishing and lots more fishing on TV and in the news.

Let’s strike while the iron is hot and take advantage of the fact that more people are asking the question “I’d like to try fishing but how do I start…?

We need to provide the answer the public are looking for and show this audience of potential new anglers how inexpensive, exciting, simple, easy and readily available angling is.

To do that I need YOU to help our Get Fishing campaign to run an event or two. It’s easier than you might think. All you need to do is make contact with me and we’ll do everything to support you each step of the way with every newcomer’s angling journey.

Let’s work together and give people the answer to “How do I Get Fishing…?

Look forward to hearing from you,

Dean
