2022 – WHAT A YEAR FOR COMPETITIONS!

Angling Trust Competitions Team reveal the Rolls of Honour 2022

MEDALS galore, a gong from Buckingham Palace, big catches, huge prizes, and record attendances – it has been an action-packed year of competition fishing in 2022!

The domestic calendar was a busy one as usual with coarse, sea, and game events kicking off in mid–April and running through to late September, while our international anglers clocked up hundreds of thousands of miles representing Team England across the globe.

Our National Championships saw some amazing catches as anglers got to enjoy fabulous fishing on a diverse mix of stillwater, river, and canal venues.

Five of our events – the Junior, Youth, Ladies, and Masters and Veterans Nationals – all saw attendance boosts this year while tickets for FishOMania and RiverFest sold out in record time.

Thirteen Angling Trust England teams brought medals home from international competitions, including five team golds, seven silvers, and a bronze plus individual gold, silver, and bronze medals at World Championships – the most for many years.

On the home front, our lead volunteer, David Kent, was recognised by the Nation with a British Empire Medal for his tireless work in organising local and national-scale events for over four decades.

As we reach the end of the fishing year, we unveil the Angling Trust Roll of Honour 2022 and offer our huge congratulations to all anglers who won events over the past 12 months.
