ENGLAND SHORE SQUADS FOR 2024 ANNOUNCED
ENGLAND’S shore angling squads have confirmed they will compete in nine major championships in 2024 after some of the strongest-ever squads were named this week.
There are new caps for several anglers this season, a with progression from youth to senior squads also in evidence and follows a rigorous selection process led by team managers and chaired by Senior England Manager Richard Yates.
The squads will be flying the flag for Team England both home and abroad with World Championships in Cyprus, Ireland, and Spain, and on the beaches of Montrose, Scotland for the Home Internationals.
Angling Trust Head of Competitions and Team England, Steve Fitzpatrick, was delighted at the number of anglers who applied for a place in the squads this year.
“A huge thank you to all those anglers who submitted an application to be part of team England in 2024, and I can reveal that there were some tough decisions to be made over the final selections.
“On behalf of all of us at the Angling Trust, congratulations to all those who will represent England this season and we wish you the best of luck in bringing back gold medals.
“Special mention must go to former Danny Parker, who steps up from the U21 team into the Seniors, and former Angling Trust Talent Pathway graduate, Curtis Driver – the current U16 World Champion – who has been selected for the U21 World squad.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who volunteer to lead and support teams – the managers and coaches – who sacrifice so much to ensure England compete at the highest level every year.”
