MESTER THE MASTER AT FREE SPIRIT MATCH BODDINGTON CLASSIC FINAL
Bogdan Mester is the 2024 Free Spirit Match Boddington Classic champion after a superb two days of fishing on the Northants big-fish reservoir.
Totalling 134k 325g across the weekend, Bogdan took the title, trophy and £2,000 prize by almost 30 kilos from Welsh ace Zak Williams on 105k 300g, with Ryan MacDonald filling third just over five kilos behind on 99k 800g.
After winning day one with 77k 800g from peg 92, Bogdan was heading to a trickier zone on day two where a good draw was needed – and he got it in the shape of peg 80.
Starting on the pellet waggler in the much warmer conditions of the second day produced only one carp, forcing a change to his beloved bomb and PVA bag approach.
That soon saw him catching again, with his final tally of a dozen carp giving him 56k 525g at the scales.
For Zak, a disappointing day one that yielded only 27kilos was soon forgotten about as he snared 22 carp on short range feeder from peg 99 to take a massive 76k 725g and rocket up the leaderboard into second spot.
* The Angling Trust would like to thank Free Spirit Match and all the anglers, qualifier organisers, and stewards for their continued support of the Boddington Classic.
