Well done everyone who attended the Witham Grange Glamping Angling Trust Get Fishing event on 24th and 25th May.

Once again great positive feedback:

“Spent the weekend at Witham Grange Glamping and Chris was there all weekend coaching the adults and kids.
“We all had an amazing weekend and Chris definitely is someone to inspire the next generation of fishers.
“So many other skills that can be learnt in this environment. It’s more than just fishing.
Thanks Chris and young Oscar!”

Each and everyone had a fantastic time – plenty of laughter, high fives and fist bumps!

One lad, Lukas, achieved all three Awards in the 2 days: Bronze, Silver and Gold – His first time fishing! He was so switched on to what was happening in his swim, learning new techniques, it was just a joy to watch him!

Big shout out to young Oscar who helped out for the weekend.

Also a big thankyou to Newark police for coming and chatting to the group making a great connection with everyone – just a joy to see.

The Get Fishing campaign is funded by

The Angling Trust’s Get Fishing campaign to get more people fishing more often is funded by the Environment Agency from fishing licence income as part of the National Angling Strategic Services contract with the Angling Trust, and Sport England. Children under 13 do not need a licence, and licences for children aged between 13 and 16 are free but you still need to register and receive a licence before you go fishing. You can get a licence for the full year, for 8 days (ideal for holidays!) or just a day’s fishing.

NOTE: Although young children who are under 13 year old do not need a licence to fish, the person supervising them needs to have the proper fishing licence before they take hold of the fishing rod or help the child fish with it.
