The Angling Mental Health Initiative’s Let’s Go Fishing events kick off in style – learn how to get into fishing with AMHI
AHMI’s first session kicked off in style with a challenging day’s fishing – but wow! the rewards were worth it!
From chunky tench to stunning roach, the catches didn’t come easy, but they were truly special.
See some photos below – more photos on this link:
Set at a beautiful venue – Kiln Pond in West Sussex – with near-perfect weather, AHMI were joined by a brilliant mix of first-time anglers and a few familiar faces too. It was a day full of laughs, learning and unforgettable moments on the bank.
This session also introduced their brand new ‘Big Fish Award’ – given to the angler who lands the biggest fish of the day!
Each winner walks away with their exclusive certificate and sticker to mark the achievement.
AMHI also awarded the hugely popular Get Fishing Awards – see how you can get a Get Fishing Award at an event near you here!
Got Photos from the Day? AHMI would love to see them!
If you’ve got your own snaps from their recent event, they’ve made it super easy to share them – they now have a dedicated photo upload page here. Also, if you enjoyed the day, please consider leaving them a review here – it really helps them grow and continue running these special events.
We’re helping to organise other Get Fishing Events in your area. Events are added to our website and social media all the time so, please check our Get Fishing events diary for new events near to you.
The Get Fishing campaign is funded by
The Angling Trust’s Get Fishing campaign to get more people fishing more often is funded by the Environment Agency from fishing licence income as part of the National Angling Strategic Services contract with the Angling Trust, and Sport England. Children under 13 do not need a licence, and licences for children aged between 13 and 16 are free but you still need to register and receive a licence before you go fishing. You can get a licence for the full year, for 8 days (ideal for holidays!) or just a day’s fishing.
NOTE: Although young children who are under 13 year old do not need a licence to fish, the person supervising them needs to have the proper fishing licence before they take hold of the fishing rod or help the child fish with it.
Get Fishing is Proudly Supported by
The Angling Trust’s ‘Get Fishing’ campaign is proudly supported by

as we all work towards getting more people fishing, more often.
If there’s something that you cannot find here to help you start fishing or return to angling, please contact your local Regional Angling Development Officer – you can find the nearest one to where you want to go fishing here.
