Three fantastic oranisations helping communites get involved for well-being, learning new skills and meeting new people:

Big C Cancer Charity helps local cancer patients in Norfolk and their families and friends improve their quality of life, physical health, and mental well-being.

UK Fishing School helps improve well-being by triggering “happiness hormones”. Fishing acts as a catalyst, propelling our bodies to release four key chemicals that elevate our mental state, granting us precious respite from the rigours of daily life. We disentangle from stress and immerse ourselves in the tranquillity of nature, a proven stress and anxiety buster that works wonders for mental health.

The CAST Awards, developed by the Angling Trust, with funding from the Environment Agency and support from Sport England are a series of progressive skills awards for anglers in England, designed to support, reward, and recognize their achievements, starting with the CAST Starter level and progressing through multiple levels.

Anyone who has been fishing will know how beneficial angling is at boosting mental health and wellbeing. We’re helping to organise Get Fishing Events like this in your area all over the country!

Events are added to our website daily and social media all the time so, please check our Get Fishing events diary for new events near to you.

The Get Fishing campaign is funded by

The Angling Trust’s Get Fishing campaign to get more people fishing more often is funded by the Environment Agency from fishing licence income as part of the National Angling Strategic Services contract with the Angling Trust, and Sport England. Children under 13 do not need a licence, and licences for children aged between 13 and 16 are free but you still need to register and receive a licence before you go fishing. You can get a licence for the full year, for 8 days (ideal for holidays!) or just a day’s fishing.

NOTE: Although young children who are under 13 year old do not need a licence to fish, the person supervising them needs to have the proper fishing licence before they take hold of the fishing rod or help the child fish with it.
