Street Fishing World Champs agony for England

They say that fourth is the worst position to finish in when medals are up for grabs, and doubtless the Angling Trust England Street Fishing team will agree with that sentiment after missing out on a World Championships bronze by just 13cm!
Held on the Fox River around Green Bay in the USA, the four-man team of Paul Danby and Adam Seeley and outgoing individual World Champions Nick Wilson and Ben Sharp finished the two-day event on 19 points, the same as France.
That meant total length of fish caught across the championships by all four anglers came into play. France racked up 547cm against the 534cm of England. One fish. That’s all that decided the medal, a devastating statistic for a team that travelled thousands of miles only to miss out by that tiniest of margins.
Paul and Adam were England’s top pair, scoring eight points – seven on day one and then a fine section win on day two – with 339cm of fish to go onto the board. It wasn’t quite as productive for Nick and Ben, their 195cm of fish coming from a fifth and sixth in section for an 11-point haul.
