Get Fishing News
Amazing angling works wonders with Big C Cancer Charity plus more get into fishing events in 2026
Working with partners to introduce the benefits of angling to people is always a rewarding experience, and our friends over at the Big C Cancer Charity have sent over some images following some brilliant events held over the last few months.
We hope to always support work like this. Charity worker, Molly Driver, reflected on the impact:
“We have had an absolutely fantastic time fishing these last few months, I am quite sad it’s finished for the year! I’m now thinking about funding for next year, based on how successful it’s been.”

Given how positive the Big C Charity events have been – both emotionally and socially – there are ambitious plans to continue and expand this work in the spring. Partnering with organisations like Angling Trust and its Get Fishing network can help scale these events, reaching even more people who could benefit from the therapeutic, social, and community-building power of fishing.
Molly’s comment about seeking next year’s funding is encouraging: as more people experience the joy and calm of angling, the case for continued support grows stronger. With well-structured, quality-assured Get Fishing events, there’s a real opportunity to sustain and expand these initiatives, helping more people find solace, connection, and purpose by the water.
Thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds are introduced to fishing every year, and we love seeing the smiles it brings.
Big C Cancer Charity helps local cancer patients in Norfolk and their families and friends improve their quality of life, physical health, and mental well-being.
Events are added to our website daily and social media all the time so, please check our Get Fishing events diary for new events near to you by clicking this link.
The Get Fishing campaign is funded by

The Angling Trust’s Get Fishing campaign to get more people fishing more often is funded by the Environment Agency from fishing licence income as part of the National Angling Strategic Services contract with the Angling Trust, and Sport England. Children under 13 do not need a licence, and licences for children aged between 13 and 16 are free but you still need to register and receive a licence before you go fishing. You can get a licence for the full year, for 8 days (ideal for holidays!) or just a day’s fishing.
NOTE: Although young children who are under 13 year old do not need a licence to fish, the person supervising them needs to have the proper fishing licence before they take hold of the fishing rod or help the child fish with it.
