NEW FIPSed WEEKEND (2023)
CONFIRMATION OF QUALIFYING PROCESS FOR FIPSed WORLD CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS (FEEDER & FLOAT)
As headlined by Angling Trust CEO, Jamie Cook, in his pre-Christmas podcast with Matt Godfrey (https://fb.watch/b0WNORGV7D/), here we confirm the launch of a “FIPSed Weekend” in 2023, along with confirmation the qualification criteria for the FIPSed World Club Championships in both Feeder and Float.
This re-enforces our commitment to further developing FIPSed level competitive angling, and the success of English coarse teams on the international stage.
QUALIFICATION FOR 2024 EVENTS
NEW FIPSed WEEKEND IN 2023
INCORPORATING THE FEEDER NATIONAL AND A NEW FLOAT NATIONAL EVENT
The Angling Trust’s new international-style qualifying weekend on the Gloucester Canal has been switched from the original planned date of August 5th & 6th.
The move follows a series of date clashes and changes within domestic and international calendars, protects the sport on the Division 1 National, and also enables the Float competition to be more closely aligned to FIPS international rules with the addition of bloodworm and joker being allowed for that match.
It will mean the events will now take place on the Gloucester Canal as follows:
Saturday August 5 – FIPS qualifier Feeder National fished to FIPS-ed rules. This will be the official qualifier for the FIPSed World Club Feeder Championships in 2024.
Sunday August 13 – FIPS qualifier Float National fished to FIPSed rules. This will be the official qualifier for the FIPSed World Club Float Championships in 2024.
Both events will be teams of 6, fished to full FIPSed rules, and be open to all teams based on Angling Trust membership. Teams may be formed of different individuals on each day.
