Record turnout for Anglers with Disabilities National 2022
Tunnel Barn Farm’s High Pool lived up to its reputation as an action-packed water as a record entry of 28 anglers enjoyed action all day at the Anglers with Disabilities National 2022.
Touted as one of the friendliest events in British match fishing, old rivalries were rekindled once the starting whistle sounded and competitors got amongst the carp, F1s and skimmers at the Shrewley, Warwickshire complex.
Anglers from all over the country were in attendance but it was local lad Steve Lovell who took the spoils, using his experience on the venue to crash out 35k 570g from High Pool peg 12.
Maver-backed Steve fished pole with casters and pellets shallow at 13m to the reedbed in front of him to take the bulk of his F1 catch, adding a single F1 from the margins before the all-out signal sounded.
All three of the leading anglers reported busy action and runner up Ethan Etherington, part of the Browning Youth team, had a superb mixed bag for his 26k 050g catch.
The reigning champ again fished pole and casters shallow for his weight from peg 17 to clinch the silver medal ahead of bronze medallist Paul Logan on peg 42 who ended the day with 22k 100g.
