Angling Improvement Fund – Nets, Mats and Slings
This fund opens at 9am on Monday 12th May. There is £25,000 available, provided by Environment Agency from rod licence income, towards the purchase of nets, mats and slings. This is to help prevent the spread of fish disease and Invasive Non-Native Species. Applicants will be required to complete an online learning module and provide 2 quotes for their equipment. If the grant is awarded, the money will be paid on the production of receipts.
Who can apply to the Angling Improvement Fund?
Applicant venues must be located in England and offer a form of fishing covered by an Environment Agency non-migratory trout and coarse fishing licence.
Successful applicants must consent to any publicity relating to the funding award and its project as may be required by the Angling Trust and/or Environment Agency.
Eligible organisations include:
- Unincorporated associations such as clubs and syndicates
- Commercial fisheries
- Local authorities
- Limited companies
- Community Interest Companies
- Charities
(Governance documentation may be required before an application is considered)

- If you are a new applicant register your organisation on the Online Application System (link below). If you already have a log in from any previous applications you do not need to register again. (Please note this is NOT your angling trust membership details)
