Future Anglers in the Making at Bishop Fox’s School, Taunton

Dean Asplin, Angling Trust Partnership Development Manager (South) oversaw a hugely successful Schools Angling Day down at Bishop Fox’s School, Taunton.

Terry Kilbride the school’s Head of Maths tells how a day’s fishing added up to some budding new young anglers…

“We had 16 students come to discover what fishing is all about, under the supervision of the day’s qualified and licensed angling coach, John along with Paul Homewood an expert angler (…who also happens to be the school caretaker!)

With the support of The Sedges Fishery owner plus myself, this meant all the kids got the perfect level of help and instruction that beginner anglers can benefit from on group sessions like this.

We’re very grateful to the Angling Trust for the advice, funding and support that made the day possible as well as putting us in contact with John whose a completely thorough and professional coach.

In the end loads of small roach, rudd and bream made for constant action with a few big carp to thrill everyone – the largest being a ten pounder – fantastic!

I’m certain we’ve got lots of future anglers in the making as a result of what turned out to be a hugely popular day.

Thanks again and all the best.”
