Dawley Angling Society supports ‘Take a Friend Fishing’ this Christmas
Dawley Angling Society based in Telford, Shropshire is supporting the ‘Take a Friend Fishing’ initiative, by giving a free Day Ticket to an angler’s friend on any of our waters, for the period 19th December to the 10th January 2020.
The Society controls many waters around Telford, including Hinkshay Top and Bottom Pools, the noted carp match water Park Farm Pool in Broseley and the jewel in the crown, which is the famous Ironbridge stretch of the River Severn where anglers can fish in view of the historic Ironbridge.
When you show the Society’s bailiff your free one-day Environment Agency licence and the associated email, (which you can show the bailiff on your phone, or print hard copies and bring it along with you), the Society will give you a day-ticket which will entitle you to a full days fishing for FREE.
Society Water Bailiffs visit the waters daily, so there’s no need to purchase a ticket in advance, just turn up and fish.
Chairman of Dawley Angling Society, Mr Steve Brennan:
“Dawley AS are proud to support this initiative and hope that your friend will enjoy their day fishing at one of our superb venues. After a tough year, it’s our Christmas gift, so give somebody the gift of fishing this Christmas.“
More details can be found on the Society’s Facebook Group – search ‘Dawley Angling Society – Telford’ or go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/115340148550729 – or by ringing the Secretary Mr Danny Chetwood on 01952 246402.
Applying at www.takeafriendfishing.org.uk is easy – the free fishing licence will be sent with a confirmation email, so please remember to have the angler’s fishing licence, both people’s email addresses and the date of the trip ready when you register.
The Take a Friend Fishing campaign is a partnership between the Angling Trades Association, the Environment Agency and the Angling Trust – it’s designed to give more people the chance to get into fishing.
Relaunched in 2020, over 4,000 people have already taken part in Take a Friend Fishing this year alone! A great sign that angling is as popular as ever, and still just as easy to get into, especially with a friend to show you how.
About Dawley Angling Society:
