Sad passing of volunteer bailiff Steve Allen, award winning Area Coordinator
The Angling Trust are sad to report the passing of volunteer bailiff Steve Allen, the recipient of a Volunteering Excellence Award for his dedication to the Voluntary Bailiff Service in his role as Area Coordinator for South Yorkshire.
Steve, a passionate angler from Sheffield (pictured here on the right receiving his award from Giles Evans, the former North East Regional Enforcement Manager) became a highly active and valued member of the Angling Trust Voluntary Bailiff Service in 2016 – submitting quality intelligence reports and supporting the police and Environment Agency on many joint patrols around the waterways of South Yorkshire where he was only too happy to later take on the role of Area Coordinator.
Steve also offered his time, knowledge and experience as a mentor to new bailiffs and was a great example to others – his many achievements as a volunteer were acknowledged in 2018 when he received the Volunteering Excellence Award.
The Angling Trust’s Fisheries Enforcement Support Service would like to send condolences to Steve’s wife Pam, his family, and friends. His commitment to the Voluntary Bailiff Service was very much appreciated and he will be sadly missed.
