Fantastic fishing with day full of smiles for beginner anglers thanks to volunteers at Rochford Angling Club, with Environment Agency funding

Another fantastic days fishing for Peaceful Place with Rochford Angling Club. with a Get Fishing Event for beginners funded by the Environment Agency

Peaceful Place is a supportive and all- inclusive service for individuals with dementia to live their best lives. Their goal is to help participants maintain and develop living- skills and talents, while taking part in meaningful activities. The service helps people with young onset dementia and retired individuals in the early to moderate stages of dementia and they’ve been going fishing during events helped by our Regional Angling Development Officer Jack Culpin who covers the East of England in our national programme to Get More People Fishing, More Often.

Jack helps angling clubs, coaches and fisheries as well as organisations who might not have previously considered including going fishing in their offer – to run events for newcomers to start and then progress into becoming capable, experienced anglers. You can visit the Get Fishing events across the East of England and  hundreds more in the pipeline, or contact Jack or another of our Officers, depending on where you live in England.

The Get Fishing campaign is funded by

The Angling Trust’s Get Fishing campaign to get more people fishing more often is funded by the Environment Agency from fishing licence income as part of the National Angling Strategic Services contract with the Angling Trust, and Sport England. Children under-13 do not need a licence, and licences for children aged between 13 and 16 are free but you still need to register and receive a licence before you go fishing. You can get a licence for the full year, for 8 days (ideal for holidays!) or just a day’s fishing.

NOTE: Although young children who are under 13 year old do not need a licence to fish, the person supervising them needs to have the proper fishing licence before they take hold of the fishing rod or help the child fish with it.
