Kev Woodcock
Regional Enforcement Support Manager, North East

Fisheries Enforcement Support Service

I retired from Durham Constabulary after serving 30 years as a police officer. The first six years of my career I was with the Metropolitan Police, transferring to Durham late 1993.

Whilst with Durham Constabulary I undertook numerous roles, Core Policing, Neighbourhood Policing, Firearms, Communications finally retiring as part of their Organised Crime Team. In June 2005 I was seconded to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s International Policing Team and posted to Basra, Iraq, as part of a multi-national policing unit sent to retrain the Iraqi National Police, before returning to Durham Constabulary in June 2006.

I got into sea fishing 15 years ago, representing Durham Police SAC in local, regional, and national competitions under Police Sport UK. I am the founder of a fishing scheme aimed at introducing the youth of Durham to sea angling and have worked with around 600-700 youths since 2013.

I love the outdoors and wildlife in general, but nothing beats being out on the sea, especially when co-running a charter fishing boat out of Hartlepool.

As the new Regional Enforcement Support Manager for the Angling Trust covering the North East, I am looking forward to the challenges ahead, using my 30 years policing and passion for fishing to enhance the good work carried out by the Angling Trust.
