SENSAS FUTURE NETWORKS DO THE DOUBLE AT ANGLING TRUST GURU YOUTH NATIONAL CHAMPS

A star-studded line up of young England internationals claimed the Angling Trust Guru-sponsored Youth National in a tight contest at Cheshire’s Partridge Lakes.

An unseasonal cold snap on the morning of the match hit early sport for most but the action picked up later in the day and saw the Sensas Future Networks White side ran out winners after carding just 18 section points from their six anglers.

Section wins for Alfie Nicholls and Harry Michael were backed by a second from James Geddes, a third from Hyram Wilsher, Jacob Lees’ fifth, and a sixth from Billy Kirk.

Team Rammy included two England U20s in their line up – World Champ Josh Duffy and George McHugh – and were just three points behind on 21 with Moathouse Angling Blue in the bronze medal berth with a creditable 28-point total.

There was a double celebration for the White’s as Harry Michael was crowned individual champion thanks to his 46k 575g net of carp and F1s from peg 133 on Covey 6.

The silver medal went to Worksop DAA’s Sam Radford who piled 46k 100g on the scales from his day on Covey 3 peg 74 while Alfie Nicholls took bronze with 40k 575g from Covey 1’s peg 10.

Thirteen teams of six anglers lined the banks of the Warrington hotspot with Covey 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and Spey lakes providing the arena for the 16-to-20-year old’s event. Along with their 2024 National medals, both winning teams and the top three individual anglers collected tackle prizes from National sponsors Tackle Guru while every competitor received a commemorative medallion for fishing this year.

Jason Kirk, Beechfield Headwear England U20 manager, was on the bank to watch his anglers and scout the next generation of his side too.

“It was a brilliant result for the lads and it’s clear there’s a lot of talented anglers who can master these highly specialist styles of fishing. There’s no doubt there were some stars of the future on the banks,” said Jason.

* The Angling Trust would like to say a huge thanks to all the team at Partridge Lakes for hosting the two National Championships, Tackle Guru for their continued support, and to all the parents and coaches who work tirelessly to support and develop our young anglers.
