APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR GURU TEAM ENGLAND U15 TALENT PATHWAY!
Are you good enough to fish for Team England? The Angling Trust and Tackle Guru are on the lookout for the nation’s best young anglers to take part in the 2024 Talent Pathway – with places in the England U15 World Champs squad up for grabs.
Applications are now open for talented boys and girls between 10 and 15 years of age keen to take their fishing to the next level and earn the right to wear the Three Lions at the World Youth Championships in Serbia next August.
Spaces are limited to just 40 anglers on the Talent Pathway this time and the successful applicants will go through three intense, full-day sessions under the watchful eye of some of the best anglers and coaches in the world.
All three sessions will take place at the prolific Makins Fishery, with the final session being the all-important assessment day where the squad for Serbia will be selected.
“Once again we’re running one pathway centrally located in the Midlands so everyone can be coached and assessed by the whole of the coaching staff,” revealed Guru England U15 coach and triple World Youth Champion Matt Godfrey.
Matt will join with England U15 Manager Joe Roberts, Angling Trust coach Danny Williamson, plus England internationals Frankie Gianoncelli and James Dent on the bank for each session, with support from other top anglers.
The coaching staff are looking for just six anglers who have that next-level attitude and ability.
“Success at World level isn’t just about being talented on the bank, it’s also about listening and learning, incredible attention to detail, practicing tactics which may be unfamiliar, and the commitment to the highest-level prep of your gear.
“English anglers can sometime be accused of a softer approach to matches when compared to our continental counterparts and we want to be able to select those anglers who have the right attitude and mentality and are prepared to be bold and go for it,” added Matt.
