PATIENT APPROACH WIN WOMEN’S NATIONAL FOR LEANNE!
A cold and blustery MAP Marston Fields Fishery played host to the 2024 Angling Trust Women’s National on July 6, and with the fishing proving to be tough, a slow and steady attack was enough to see Leanne Knott crowned champion.
Drawing peg 22 on the Elm Lake, Newark-based Leanne picked off 14 carp on Method feeder and wafter tactics fished to the island, ending up with a total weight of 31-975.
Victory came on her tenth attempt at winning, but more importantly, won England international Leanne a place in the FishOMania final on July 27, where she’ll be fishing for £50,000!
Second went to young gun Brooke Hodgkiss at peg 4 on the Willow Lake with 26-275 of carp on the tip, with Sarah Taylor securing third with a run of late carp on the short pole line for 25-575 at Oak Lake peg 4.
There was also a teams of four event running alongside the individual race, the Aquaholics quartet of Sarah, Leanne, Kayleigh Dowd, and and Charlotte Gore totalling 84-450 for victory.
- Thanks to Dale and his team at MAP Marston Fields Fishery for hosting the Angling Trust Women’s National 2024.
