Get Fishing for Wellbeing North
HACRO – The Hertfordshire Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of Offenders –
HACRO (The Hertfordshire Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of Offenders) works with offenders to reduce reoffending by providing structure to their lives and improving their mental and physical well-being though activities and support. So far, we have held 16 sessions using the Get Fishing funding and numbers of participants have been growing.
We have been amazed at how therapeutic our participants find fishing. Even those with ADHD, mental health and autism are able to sit at the lakeside quietly and calmly for several hours, (even if they don’t catch anything), when they otherwise find it difficult to sit and focus on anything for more than a few minutes. We are most grateful to the Angling Association, without which we would not have been able to provide this most effective support.
