TWO NEW SPONSORS ANNOUNCED FOR ANGLING TRUST SEA LEAGUE 2025
The Angling Trust are delighted to reveal two new sponsors will take over the PENN Sea League in 2025 after tackle giant PENN announced they will step back at the end of this year.
On January 1, 2025, Anyfish Anywhere and Asso will begin the next era of the competition as the headline sponsors, helping the Angling Trust to shape the Sea League for future years.
PENN’s sponsorship is widely regarded as the longest-running partnership in UK shore fishing, lasting an incredible 25 years, and will end on December 31 following a decision made by their parent company, Pure Fishing.
The partnership was originally conceived between the US brand and Sea Angler Magazine in 1999 and has seen hundreds of thousands of anglers take part in the competition since its inception.
In late 2023, the Angling Trust Competitions team took on the ownership of the Sea League as the first event in a growing portfolio of shore competitions and management of England teams.
“I’d like to thank Pure Fishing and PENN for their support of the competition for the last 25 years, it’s an incredible commitment to have been behind the Sea League for so long and I wish them well for their future direction,” said Steve Fitzpatrick, Angling Trust Head of Competitions.
“The Sea League has gone from strength to strength over the past year and with the work of some incredible volunteers, including event co-ordinator Ian Bowell, and the support of sea anglers all over the UK.
“We’re incredibly excited to be able to work with Julian Shambrook and Richard Yates and their teams at Anyfish Anywhere and Asso. These are two progressive, high-profile brands who are intrinsically linked with sea match angling and already support the market at both the grass roots and elite levels.
“With their input and support we know we can grow the number of anglers who have the opportunity to be involved in the Sea League and make it an even stronger competition for the future.”
Anyfish Anywhere and Asso will take on the Grand Final in February 2025 where the top anglers from the 2024 league will go head-to-head.
“We’re proud to be part of the top match fishing league in the UK and we want to encourage people to get back on the beach, people to be running matches, and enjoying what we’re doing,” said Julian, a former winner of the final.
Sea Angler Magazine will continue to be the media partner for the Sea League.
