NEW MANAGER FOR ENGLAND FREESTYLE FEEDER TEAM
The Angling Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Morris as manager of the Ringers England Freestyle Method Feeder team.
Mark brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role having worked in the backroom team with outgoing manager Tommy Pickering and also as Assistant Manager of the England Masters Feeder team with Nigel Franks for the past four years.
He’s also been heavily involved in the domestic scene with multiple high-level clubs including captaining Division 1 National teams and also competing in the FIPSed-qualifying Feeder National as well as RiverFest finals.
“Mark is a no-nonsense manager and isn’t afraid to make changes. He has some great ideas to take the team in a winning direction from the solid foundations built by Tommy Pickering over the past few years,” said Steve Fitzpatrick, Angling Trust Head of Competitions and Team England.
“It’s incredibly difficult to follow in the footsteps of a legend such as Tommy, but I know that Mark is a natural leader and the right man to push the team on.”
Grantham, Lincs-based Mark’s first event in charge of the squad – which is sponsored by Ringer Baits and Dragon Energy Drinks – will be the World Championships in Hungary in summer 2026. But first he wants to set up a series of assessment days where he can evaluate anglers to strengthen his squad.
The FIPSed Freestyle Method Feeder World Champs is one of the newer events on the world stage having been established four years ago and England are keen to stamp their name on its silverware.
Mark said: “I am delighted and privileged to be taking on this role and working with world class anglers and our existing sponsors Ringer Baits and Dragon Energy Drinks.
“Over the next few weeks and months I’ll be looking to identify the team on and off the bank to deliver the levels of success we all expect.
“Thank you to the outgoing management team led by Tommy Pickering who have established a firm base for England to strive forward in future FIPSed Championships.”
* Dates for applications to be part of the England Freestyle Method Feeder squad assessment days will be announced shortly on the Angling Trust Competitions Facebook page.
