Get Fishing News
National Campaign to Get Fishing is now at over 300 angling events near you
Get Fishing, the nationwide campaign to encourage more people to give fishing a go, has over 300 fun, safe and friendly angling events happening across England this year.
Our website, which is run by the Angling Trust, fishing’s representative and governing body, is part of a big drive to encourage more families and young people to discover the wonders of angling in the coming months.
The Get Fishing Team have been busy working with angling clubs, coaches and fisheries to offer hundreds of its Family Fishing sessions to people of all ages and abilities. Combined with events delivered in partnership with Get Hooked on Fishing, National Fishing Month and Canal & River Trust there will be almost daily opportunities for people to discover fishing this year.
James Roche and Dean Asplin, Development Managers for the Angling Trust offered their perspective on the success of Get Fishing. James commented: “The Get Fishing campaign is really starting to build momentum. More and more organisations are getting on board to become part of this huge nationwide initiative to drive up participation in angling.” Dean added, “Having 300 angling events listed on ‘Get Fishing Near you‘ just shows how easy it is for anyone to find a session near them. I know that all of these events will be packed with mums, dads and children who’ll be able to enjoy a relaxing day out in the open air that’s combined with the excitement and challenges of fishing.”
Get Fishing events are funded by the Environment Agency and Sport England and all include use of tackle and bait on the day – find an event near you by visiting our events page.
