ENGLAND TO HOST NEW EUROPEAN FEEDER CUP THIS OCTOBER

The Angling Trust is delighted to announce that a new European Feeder Cup event for international teams will take place in England this October.

In a special, invitational event run by the England Feeder team and organised by Lee Kerry, seven European nations will do battle against three England teams in a five-day contest at Barston Lakes starting on Monday October 16.

Confirmed to fish are teams from Ireland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Lithuania, and current World Feeder Champions Hungary who will be looking to add a Euro crown to their trophy collection.

But there will be three strong England sides at the event too with the Drennan England Feeder squad fielding two teams and the England Masters Feeder squad competing too.

Fishing will be to international rules with traditional feeders and 50cm hooklengths allowed, a pre-baiting period, limits on natural baits, and the use of bloodworm and joker. The event kicks off with two practice days on Monday and Tuesday 16th and 17th followed by three, five hour matches on Wednesday 18, Thursday 19, and Friday 20th to decide the winners.

Lee Kerry, the man behind the competition, is looking forward to welcoming the cream of European feeder fishing to this home event.

“For all match anglers, it is the highest honour to represent your country in an international competition,” said Lee. “As feeder anglers, we have always been looking for an extra opportunity to come together and compete at this level. Therefore, we hope this new competition will be the start of something wonderful for feeder fishing, and we are very proud and privileged to host the first ever European Feeder Cup in England.”

The elite-level competition is the perfect opportunity for anglers to come and watch the best in the World go head-to-head on an English stillwater.

Steve Fitzpatrick, Angling Trust Head of Competitions & Team England, said: “We’re proud to be able to host the first year of this new event and hope it is the start of something much bigger over the next few years.

“We’ve watched the FIPS-ed World Feeder Championships grow in the past decade and we knew a similar style event would be popular. Indeed, we have engaged in many conversations with anglers from all over the World asking about staging an event in England once again. Hopefully, this is the competition which starts the ball rolling.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the teams taking part and of course Nigel Harrhy and his team at Barston Lakes for providing a superb fishery to host this inaugural competition. Spectators will be welcome to attend – we look forward to seeing you at Barston.”
