Lines On The Water

Wild Fishing – The ultimate “where to fish” book for anglers who explore

Many of us love nothing better than to fish our “home” water. Heading down to a familiar club stretch of the river, nearby day ticket water or nipping along to the local canal section gives us a chance to spend time in one of our happy places. Still, it’s always good to explore new venues and for many anglers, that ideally involves venturing off the beaten path and seeking out ‘Wild Fishing’.

In a country the size of the UK and with a population that seems to spend increasing amounts of time in the great outdoors, finding wild places to fish can be hard, and that’s where this beautifully produced new book by Kevin and Jill Adams comes in.

Wild Fishing is 244 pages packed with venues, information and inspiration. It’s stuffed full of beautiful photographs, handy maps and the key fishing info and covers 700 spectacular, secluded and affordable angling destinations right round the UK.

The book covers fishing in both freshwater and saltwater and all disciplines. By their very nature, many of the UK’s wild stretches of river are more suitable for fly-fishing, so there are many great venues for game anglers described, however the book also includes forgotten canals, wild carp lakes and more than enough wild coarse and sea angling venues to last the reader a lifetime, so no matter what your preferred angling discipline, there is plenty for you here.

The information on each venue is brief, but always useful, with precise coordinates, permit information, species present and local hints and tips as well as listings of relevant websites and key info about what type of angling is allowed. There’s humour here too and no little enthusiasm and it’s obvious that the authors are great lovers of fishing in wild places and just want to share the joy.

There really is a lot of information here that will provide inspiration for years to come. A fantastic addition to anyone’s angling library!

The book is published by Wild Things Publishing and is available from good bookshops and direct from the publisher for £18.99.
