“Predator Academy” gets kids fishing
15 youngsters had a great introduction to pike fishing at the Fourth “Hull & District Anglers’ Association Predator Academy” event on 2nd March 2019.
One of the Region’s longest established fishing clubs provided one-on-one training led by experienced pike anglers at its Brough Angling Complex.
The kids had a great time learning to cast and newly qualified Licensed Angling Coach Chloe Downing even managed to land an 11lb 8oz pike!
Derek Pye, the club’s Fisheries Officer, said: “Thanks to all the kids who stuck at the fishing and made the day such fun. As always, my personal thanks to all the pike anglers who turned out and provided their time, fuel, bait and tackle to encourage a new generation of anglers.”
James Roche, a Partnership Development Manager for the Angling Trust’s “Get Fishing” campaign, added: “Hull and District Anglers Association run a fantastic programme of introductory angling events throughout the year. Its great to see so many people wanting to get involved in angling even in the colder months. Thanks to funding from the Environment Agency, our website ‘getfishing’ is full of similar events where you can try fishing for the first time.”
