Angling Trust Charter Boat Membership
The angling
tourism that charter boats generate provides an essential source of income to
local coastal communities. However, charter skippers are finding it increasingly
difficult to remain in business. Commercial over exploitation of fish stocks,
higher costs and increasing competition for access and resources from commercial
fishing and other industries has resulted in a marked decrease in charter boats
around the UK over the last few decades.
The Angling
Trust is committed to representing the interests of charter boat angling and
making sure that the sector can grow in the future. Through our marine regions
and national Conservation and Access group we campaign for better fish stocks
and continued access to these stocks to ensure charter boats remain at the heart
of UK sea angling. Membership for
charter boat operators is just £55 including a free listing on our website
promoting your business. We will update and
consult you on policies and developments in campaigning that could affect
you. We will offer you advice and support on conservation and access issues and through the Angling Trust give you a channel to
make your voice heard by Government departments and fisheries management
bodies such as the Marine Management Organisation and the ten regional
Inshore Fishery and Conservation Authorities. The Angling Trust understands that charter boat fishing is an integral part
of sea angling in the UK offering
superb opportunities for a variety of species throughout the year – often out of
reach to shore anglers, private small boat owners and inland sea anglers. The
local knowledge of charter skippers is invaluable and means you are regularly
fishing over the most productive wreck marks, reefs or sandbanks that
produce the biggest and most numerous
fish.
